About Karin 's Art Show at Chaminade in Santa Cruz

"Karin H. Leonard’s paintings call to mind the sentiments of Vincent Van Gogh, who once said, “I experience a period of frightening clarity in those moments when nature is so beautiful.” This Saturday, the Chaminade Hotel will display a collection of Leonard’s vibrant pastel and oil paintings in an exhibit properly titled “Luminous Landscapes.”
These collected works capture the stunning scenery with which we here in Santa Cruz are blatantly spoiled. Those of us who don’t make as much time to enjoy the natural beauty of the area as we used to are put to shame by the practices of this impressionist artist. A great deal of Leonard’s work is done “en plein air”: in the open air.
